Exceptional service!.
I was recently in the market for an engagement ring, something different and unique. Frankly, I wasn't sure what I was looking for but I did know that I wasn't happy with the traditional settings found in most commercial stores.
Initially, I was a little overwhelmed when I first walked into R. W. Wise as I have never seen such a great variety of truly creative world-class artists and exceptional gem stones under one roof. But the staff patiently walked me through the gallery explaining things in great detail and educating me the best they could in one, short visit. I was especially pleased with the collaboration of Mr. Wise and their lead goldsmith. They took the time to sit down with me discussing my wishes and budget and developed a design concept just for me. The finish piece was even better than the drawings!
Thank you!

Wonderful people to do business with.
I've been in the shop many times and I find dealing with Richard and Rebekah very enjoyable. I'm very picky and they spend as much time with me as I need to feel comfortable with my final purchase. I'm always so thrilled with what I've bought and always get many compliments. And I'm very pleased to tell people where I got it and direct them to the shop!

Exceptional quality.
To be fair, R. W. Wise has some of the finest quality gems and jewelry I have ever seen---and I have seen a lot.
Pigeon blood rubies from Burma, royal blue sapphires from Burma, Ceylon and Madagascar. They are a bit eccentric tis true, but you will never see the same old thing when you go to that shop. Its like jewelers must have been before everything was made in a mold in Asia.

Nice gems, perhaps, but horribly rude.
My fiance and I stopped in here to look at wedding bands. While much of the jewelry here is decidedly not to our taste (big, loud, gaudy), we read that they handcraft their jewelry and assumed that we could consult about a cleaner, simpler band. The salesperson (I believe it was Mr. Wise) was incredibly rude and condescending throughout the entire visit, and seemed entirely uninterested in helping us or making a sale. When we requested to try on different shapes to see how they would look on our hands, he said "see them in the case? just imagine them on your finger, that's what they look like." Are you kidding me? He made several snide and disparaging comments throughout our brief visit. Also, his prices were far higher than any of the handcrafted rings we've looked at. (Not just slightly higher but significantly so - an insult to any educated consumer.) If you're at all concerned with customer service and purchasing from someone who at least pretends to care, avoid, avoid, avoid!
