Family-owned resort that's about a good day of skiing and its Celtic atmosphere.. The Lowdown
Thanks to 95 percent snowmaking, conditions are usually superb. Four double chairs and two rope tows move you uphill a bit more slowly than modernized lifts, but the 1,250-foot vertical drop (substantial for Massachusetts) and runs of up to 2.5 miles will keep you on the mountain. Brodie is a total experience, with slope-side accommodations, weekly special events and extra amenities. It's not Aspen, but it has charm and staying power.

Lucky Charms
Run by the very-proud-of-their-roots Kelly family, Brodie has oozed a homey Irish charm for 35 years. Irish theme chalets and hotel rooms dot the landscape around the resort's 40 trails and their annual St. Patrick's Day on Snow party draws thousands.

All Aboard
Snowboarders will find plenty to shred in the area's shredder park, with its buried school bus and paddy wagon, plus added bonus jumps.
