Fabulous experience. I first came to David Gavin G.B. as a weekender from NYC. I came in, the girl was very friendly, offering me coffee or tea, making me feel very comfortable. As I explained to her the fine, natural highlights I was hoping for, she asked me questions about my hair routine, and showed me swatches so we both were in the same mindset. She seemed very knowledgeable and confident, which put me at ease. She mixed up and came back and foiled my hair with precision and ease, not needing to linger over each foil. We chatted, but not too much, which I enjoyed, as I like to enjoy this me time and relax. One and a half hours later, I emerged with a shiny, rich color that was more than I ever expected!! Great experience, you could tell that stylists truly liked each other, giving the salon a great energy, because everyone talked to each other-including clients. Now, I am in Great Barrington full time and am proud to tell people where I get my hair done---might I add, better than any stylist I've had in the city. Loved it!

**Terrible Highlights**. In choosing this salon, I went on the basis of my aunts recommendation and also because they also have another location here in NYC. So I thought coming here would be a safe bet while I was vacationing. However, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The girl was very professional and nice, but she did a poor job on my hair. The salon was empty which automatically said something to me, but I didn't listen to my gut. Although the girl was quick to put the foils in my hair which was great, she didn't leave the color in long enough, so there was hardly any return color on my hair. Literally, I was in and out in one hour and my hair is LONG. Anyone who colors or highlights their hair, knows that an hour isn't long enough for a good job. They charged $90 for these highlightes and they should have been $40 or she should have offered to put more color throughout. Very disappointing and I don't recommend this salon at all. However, it is Great Barrington and I shouldn't expect a NYC job when I 'm in the mountains visiting. But, since David Gavin has a fairly decent reputation here in NYC, perhaps it was silly of to think the same would hold true at their salon in Great Barrington.
