Tips for Lantern Restaurant

sad and dry.
My Parents have been going to Pittsfield for decades and eventual relocated there. They have been told for years that The Lantern has the best burgers. My friend and I are on the hunt for good burgers and The Lantern was one of the first we had to hit while visiting.
We shared a big beef burger, 6 oz of chopped sirloin. When the open burger arrived at the table it was encrusted with char. Every bite tasted like charcoal briquette. The center was a slight pink but was well pass medium rare (the way we had ordered it). After we covered the burger in catchup (to add any kind of moister) we still left some on the plate. When receiving the bill they add a $4 plate charge for sharing. I understand a plate charge when sharing but not being warned and it being 4 dollars was a little to much for our liking. After a bit a research on the web it also seems that the pricing has nearly doubled over the last few years (or they have excessive summer pricing for tourists).
For more, other burger reviews and stories from the road search for 50 burgers or bust.
