Editorial Review for The Porches Inn – by Gayot.com
The Scene
The adjacent Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art was the inspiration for this inventive inn. It consists of five separate buildings constructed on the grounds of a 19th-century mill. Three of the buildings house accommodations, while the others contain a pool house and a restaurant.
The Details
The interiors reflect the art-deco style with a contemporary flair and are filled with modern conveniences. Guest rooms offer clean, open spaces and bathrooms with pedestal tubs and sinks. Duplex suites feature narrow-winding staircases to the bedrooms, adding to their charm. You'll find high-speed Internet, as well as other tech-savvy treats such as rentable laptops and audio/visual equipment. Each building boasts a front porch where guests can linger on rocking chairs. Breakfast is complimentary each morning of your stay. For other meals, the museum's restaurant is a good bet for a bite, or you can venture out to other great Berkshire eateries.

User Reviews for The Porches Inn

I have stayed at the Porches Inn twice. I went up to North Adams to see the exhibitions at MASSMoCA, a tremendous experience. The inn was filled with delightful surprises -- the rain showerhead and the huge bathrooms. I am embarassed to admit that I loved rolling around in the Frette sheets! Having drinks by the fireplace and meeting other interesting people, particularly people passionate about art was a real highlight. This is definitely the meeting place for people interested in contemporary culture. OK. Eleven Restaurant at MASSMoCA is a cool place to have a drink, but the three meals I had there were all dissapointing. Best restaurant in North Adams is Milan at 55 Main. Fabulous cooking, decent portions, a theatrical, generous and somewhat crazy chef, an intuitive, friendly and knowledgeable sommelier, and a great welcoming time for a single female traveler. Porches Inn is not to be missed.
Pros: decor, amenities, comfort

An amazing restoration of mill worker housing, with an elegant pool, totally wired, and funky decoration. The beds are amazing. Neighborhood has a ways to go, but across the street is MASS MoCA.
Pros: the pool, the free DVD's, the beds
Cons: no restaurant
